The Gender and Sexuality: Diversity and Inclusion in the Workplace course from the University of Pittsburgh offered me valuable insights into creating inclusive environments that respect and celebrate diversity. Throughout the course, I explored how gender and sexuality intersect with workplace dynamics, learning about the challenges faced by marginalized groups and the importance of allyship. This knowledge has been particularly relevant to my experiences in Nepal, where traditional gender roles often limit women’s participation in various sectors, including environmental conservation. By understanding the frameworks for fostering diversity and inclusion, I feel better equipped to advocate for equitable practices in my work and promote a culture that values all voices. This course has reinforced my commitment to supporting gender equity in professional spaces, ultimately contributing to more inclusive and effective teams that drive positive change.
