The Feminism and Social Justice course from the University of California, Santa Cruz, gave me a deeper understanding of feminism as a movement that goes beyond gender equality, touching on issues of race, class, and justice. The course introduced me to key feminist theories and the importance of intersectionality—recognizing how different forms of oppression overlap. This was especially relevant to my work in Nepal, where social justice issues intersect with gender inequality, especially in rural areas. By connecting feminist ideas to real-life situations, the course inspired me to think more critically about the challenges faced by marginalized women and strengthened my commitment to advocating for inclusive, community-centered approaches in environmental conservation and community development projects.
