<p><strong>WAVES: Weaving Leadership for Gender Equality 2019–2022</strong></p>



<p>The RECOFTC fellowship, &#8220;30 Weaving 300: Enabling Ecosystem for Advancing Women&#8217;s Leadership and Tackling Gender Inequalities in the Forestry Sector,&#8221; was a transformative two-year journey aimed at empowering 30 young female foresters in Nepal. This initiative, part of the WAVES program, was all about nurturing the next generation of gender leaders in forestry. Through engaging webinars covering topics like forestry practices, masculine culture, gender biases, and climate change, we gained invaluable insights and tools to create meaningful action plans that promote gender equity in our workplaces and communities.</p>



<p>Being a member of <strong>Team 30</strong> was an eye-opening experience for me. I had the chance to dive deep into training focused on gender issues within the forestry sector, which not only sharpened my understanding of the challenges we face but also connected me with a vibrant and diverse group of female foresters. Together, we crafted action plans to promote gender equity in our communities, igniting a passion in me to advocate for real change in the forestry landscape. I also took on the role of facilitating information-sharing sessions with youth about gender equality, helped organize impactful webinars, and contributed to documenting our experiences throughout the program. This fellowship has been a pivotal part of my journey, significantly enhancing my leadership skills and deepening my commitment to addressing gender issues. It has truly inspired me to keep pushing for gender equity in the forestry sector and beyond.</p>
