In the Women in Environmental Biology course from the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona on Coursera, I explored the critical role women play in environmental sciences and how gender perspectives contribute to effective conservation strategies. The course highlighted women-led initiatives in conservation and sustainability, providing case studies that resonated with my own experiences working with forest-based women’s enterprises in Nepal. I learned how gender inclusion in environmental projects leads to more sustainable outcomes, as women often hold unique knowledge of local ecosystems and resources. This reinforced my commitment to supporting women’s leadership in Nepal’s conservation sector, especially in forest-based entrepreneurship, where empowering women not only strengthens environmental resilience but also uplifts entire communities.
