In the Ecology: Ecosystem Dynamics and Conservation course from the American Museum of Natural History on Coursera, I gained a deeper understanding of ecosystem dynamics and their relevance to conservation efforts in Nepal. I learned how complex interactions within ecosystems—such as nutrient cycles, energy flows, and species interdependence—are easily disrupted by threats like habitat loss, climate change, and invasive species. This knowledge has been invaluable for understanding conservation challenges in Nepal’s diverse but fragile ecosystems, where pressures from deforestation and human activity often impact both biodiversity and local communities. With insights into sustainable management strategies, including habitat restoration and community-based conservation, I feel better prepared to support conservation efforts that balance ecological health with community needs in Nepal.
